Lynden Township residents vote at the Lynden Township Hall.


The Stearns County Auditor’s Office administers all federal, state and local elections. The Auditor is responsible for maintaining the voter registration in the State System. Duties include training Election Judges, absentee balloting / ballot board, preparation of ballots, conducting post election reviews, providing results, etc.

When are elections?
· Township elections are held annually on the second Tuesday in March.  Township election hours are only 2:00-8:00PM.
· Federal and state elections are held every two years.
· Primary Elections are held on the first Tuesday after the second Monday in August. Polls are open from 7AM-8PM.
· General Elections are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Polls are open from 7AM-8PM.

The annual township meeting and election took place Tuesday March 11, 2020.
Polls were open from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the annual meeting commencing at 8:00 p.m.
Election of one Supervisor and the Clerk occurred.

Election results were announced as follows:
Number of voters: 27 signatures on the polling place roster plus 1 absentee
Candidate:    Dave Johnson (Supervisor)                Votes Received: 28
Candidate:    Jenny Schmidt (Clerk)                  Votes Received: 28

Dave Johnson won the three year term for Supervisor and Jenny Schmidt won the two year Clerk’s term.


There is nothing on the 2019 ballot for Lynden Township residents, thus the polls will not be open Tuesday, November 5th.


The annual township meeting and election took place Tuesday March 12, 2019.
Polls were open from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the annual meeting commencing at 8:00 p.m.
Election of one Supervisor and the Treasurer occurred.

Election results were announced as follows:
Number of voters: 56 signatures on the polling place roster
Candidate:    Todd Voigt (Supervisor)                Votes Received: 28
Candidate:    Tom Plaggerman (Supervisor)      Votes Received: 28
Candidate:    Daniel Torgersen (Treasurer)       Votes Received: 51
Tom Plaggerman won the three year term for Supervisor by a card draw to decide the tie.  Daniel Torgersen won the two year Treasurer’s term.


Election Notices

The annual township meeting and election will take place Tuesday March 9, 2021.
Polls will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the annual meeting commencing at 8:00 p.m. Both the election and the annual meeting will take place at the town hall. NOTE: due to COVID-19 restrictions, the in-person meeting capacity (at time of print) will be limited to 40 residents and 7 elected officials and staff.  The meeting will also be streamed live but will not be interactive, so only residents attending in person will be able to vote.  Election of one Supervisor and the Treasurer will occur.  Incumbent Dennis Niemi filed for the Supervisor position and is running unopposed.  Jean Schermer has filed for the treasurer position.


The annual township meeting and election will take place Tuesday March 12, 2019.
Polls will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the annual meeting commencing at 8:00 p.m. Both the election and the annual meeting will take place at the town hall.
Election of one Supervisor and the Treasurer will occur.  Two candidates Todd Voigt and Tom Plaggerman have filed for the Supervisor position.
Incumbent Treasurer Dan Torgersen is running unopposed.


The general election will take place Tuesday November 06, 2018. Voting for township residents will occur at the township hall and the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
